Acupuncture
Dr Shah is a trained medical acupuncturist and a member of The British Medical Acupuncture Society. Acupuncture treatment is beneficial for a number of painful conditions such as chronic neck and back pain, painful joints, migraine and painful periods. Acupuncture has the benefit of avoiding the side effects associated with a number of medications used for such chronic conditions. This is a non NHS service.
Cervical smears
All women aged between 25 and 64 are routinely invited for the cervical screening examinations (smears) every 3-5 years, depending on age. Regular cervical screening is the best way to detect early changes in the cells in the cervix (neck of the womb). Early detection and treatment can prevent cancer developing in around 80 to 90% of cases.
Child Health Surveillance
This is a national screening check carried out by the doctor and is recommended to all new born babies between 6 to 8 weeks. This assessment allows you to discuss concerns about your baby's growth and development. It is usually combined with the first child immunisations which are administered at the same time.

The practice offers the full range of routine contraceptive services including contraceptive pills, IUCD (coil) insertion and Nexplanon (Implants)

Influenza (flu) vaccinations
Flu vaccines are recommended for all patients suffering from heart and chest conditions, diabetes, those over the age of 65 years and others in the 'at risk' category. The vaccination programme starts in October each year and early vaccination offers maximum benefit.
Immunisations
Childhood immunisation is a vital aspect of prevention against a number of serious infective illnesses. We provide the full range of recommended childhood immunisation. Please also ensure that we have the full immunisation history of your child to allow us to advise you on the immunisation programmes.
We provide tetanus, polio and other immunisations for adults as they also require protection against these serious infections. For those in certain occupations e.g. health care workers, those serving in the police or fire services, working in care homes, etc, Hepatitis B vaccination is highly recommended.
Medical reports:
Specialist reports and examinations for insurance, employment, immigration and emigration purposes are available.
Minor surgery:
The practice provides a cryocautery service for warts, verrucaes and small lumps. In addition, we provide excisions of lumps such as cysts, lipomas and skin lesions including moles. Joint injections for a variety of painful conditions are also undertaken.
Private GP services:
We are aware that many patients may not be eligible for NHS services or may wish to consult a GP outside the NHS. We provide the full range of primary care services, diagnostics and referral for specialist opinions. This non NHS service does not apply to patients registered at the Grove Medical Centre under the NHS.
Pneumococcal vaccination
This vaccination is recommended to all those in the same at risk category as the flu vaccination. This is usually recommended once in the lifetime. Please ask for further information.
